We make sure that NO bikes are sold fresh off the box. Some retailers drop ship you a box they have neither checked or even seen. All bikes we sell are personally serviced and checked. Wheels are removed and trued. We go thru a bolt tightening sequence. Finally, the bike is road tested. We know folders because we ride folders as our primary bikes. With our experience, we're able to focus attention on the parts that need it the most.

Bike Fit

For riders 5' 10" and taller, please compare the A and B dimension as shown on the picture on the right. The A length (red line) is the distance from the center of the saddle to the center of the bottom bracket. The B length is the horizontal distance from the center of the saddle to where the handlebar clamps on the stem.

A=28 - 1/2 "

B= 23 - 3/4"

The A distance on this bike a slighly less than compable 20" wheeled folders. At maximum seatpost extension, the handlebar can be level or even higher than the seat level. We also recommend this bike for riders under 200 lbs. Compare the above dimensions to your existing bike to see if it fits.

Some Honest Comments:

Every folding bike has it's own design strong and weak points, as well as some idiosyncrasies. Any dealer that tells you otherwise is a "used car salesman". No folding bike is a perfect bike that will do everything and anything. Our goal is to match you with a bike that comes closest to your needs and expectations.

The Downtube Mini is meant to be a city urban bike where space constraint is at a premium. It folds smaller than its 20" wheeled counterparts. With the Capreo group, it has more gears and range than most 16" folders twice its price. It will allow you to ride longer and climb hilly terrain with more ease. With it's derailleur system and quick release hubs, this bike will fold into a suitcase a lot easier and with more room than a 20" folder.

With smaller wheels, the stem and seatpost is longer than usual. This makes the stem flexie. This design phenomenon is true for ALL folders with the long stem design.  The solution is to ride seated down especially when going uphill. Absolutely no standing on the bike and rocking the stem as it will lead to premature stem wear.

Load carrying capacity is also limited. Pannniers will not work as the wheel is too close to the ground. The best way to carry some load is on a backpack or a messenger bag

Folded Bike Dimension: Approximately 32" long x 24" high x 16" wide (real world measured dimension).

Compared to 20" folders, the Mini is shorter when folded (see left most picture). The Mini folding stem which folds to the outside of the frame makes the folded Mini very slightly wider.
