| Some Honest Comments:
Every folding bike has it's own design strong and weak points, as well as some idiosyncrasies. Any dealer that tells you otherwise is a "used car salesman". No folding bike is a perfect bike that will do everything and anything. Our goal is to match you with a bike that comes closest to your needs and expectations. Compared to a car, the Speed P8 is like buying a Toyota Corolla - a working mans car. Inexpensive and reliable. It ain't the fanciest, but will get you reliably from A to B. The wide tires provides cushioning as well as stability to the bike. The frame tubes are a lot more robust for more rigidity. Even the handlebar stem clamp has a quick release allowing you to rotate the bar when folding to make for a smaller package. Some minor dislikes - ring guard and folding pedals have switched from all alloy to resin. Instead of specing a seatpost with a built in air pump, I would have preferred that the $$ was spent on an all alloy pedal and maybe higher grade twist shifters in exchange for a regular post. The P8 models are the most airline travel friendly models. Quick releases on wheels for easy removal. MOST IMPORTANT, the stem folds to the inside of the folded frame and the stem is adjustable in height. When packing into a suitcase, the adjustable stem height allows you to pull the handlebar by releasing a quick release. Without removing the handlebar from the folding stem, you CANNOT fit the bike into an airline legal case. Models such as the Speed PRO, TR, SL (superlight) and other fancier models have handlebars which cannot be pulled out. If you have plans of flying with the bike, consider the P8 models over the higher end models. If you have features you want to see in a stock P8, let us know and we can give you a quote of any upgrades. |
