Schlogen to Linz
food stop at the Ottensheim power plant serving smoked fish caught from the Danube
Having only covered 1/3 the route past noon, we had to speed it up to get to Linz.  The scenery past Aschach is flat and barren. With a strong headwind, we lined up to form a paceline. Surprisingly, we covered 15km in an hour - slow for most, a record for us.  Another 15K and we'll be in Linz.

To switch to the left bank, we cross another power plant before Ottensheim. From there it was another peloton ride into Linz. Past 3:00 PM, we were looking for rooms.

Linz is a very cosmopolitan university town - third largest city in Austria. They have a very modern surface street car system plying the town. The best we can do is a Best Western Hotel across the bridge at a whopping 40 Euros a person. At least breakfast buffet is included with unlimited internet access.

Rooms might have been expensive since it was a Saturday and there was a music festival happening. Kids were all over drinking booze and partying. But you don't feel as threatened as back home. Kids act up but not in a violent way. They had a big free concert happening at the museum. When we got there, a band was performing reggae rap in German. Definitely, not a sleepy town !
