| The only place open for an early breakfast is the local McDonalds. It has a more upscale feel with table cloths and designer furniture. We stocked up on snacks at a grocery behind the hotel which opened 8:30 am. By 9:00, we were setting up.
Riding the Danube can be done on either side of the river. If facing the direction of Vienna, you have either the left or right bank. From Passau, we decide to take the left bank. Getting lost is a bit hard. The path is well marked with Donauradweg. Donau means the Danube, rad for bicycle and weg is way or path. Donauradweg translated means Danube Bicycle Way. If in doubt as to which way to go, you can always wait for other cyclists. The path is well traveled even at this off season time. |
