| Our first stop was the ceramic museum (free entrance) in Obernzell before lunch. It houses pottery from the Neolithic Age to the present.
The route from Obernzell to Schlogen is prettier than our morning route. Car traffic is no longer in sight as the freeways veer inland. Past Jorchenstein, we encounter one of the first hydro power plants and water locks. With the volume of water flowing in the Danube, it makes sense to generate green electric energy. To compensate for water level elevations, there are water locks raising barges from one gate to the next. We also encounter our first ferry crossing. This one has a bell to call the ferry boat if it is on the other side |

| The route after Jorchenstein is very rural. You have the river on the right and hillside farms on the left. Growing grass for cattle seems to be a crop as we see them harvested and then rolled into bales. | |||||||||||||||||||
