Raleigh Rooster - a folding bike restoration

The original wheels were discarded. Using Gaerlan parts (and your wheelbuilding CD), new wheels were built using Sun Rhynolite 20" (406mm) rims, Marwi stainless spokes, and a Shimano Parallax 100 hub up front.

I was concerned that the high-pressure Maxxi Ringworm tires coupled with the bike's short wheelbase would cause a harsh ride, but the ProMax suspension seatpost adapter and TopGun suspension fork have taken care of that fear. The chainDisc guard (and stock tire pump) were painted to match the metallic green frame. All painted parts were clear-coated for additional gloss and protection.

The heavy steel kickstand, and it's matching welded on housing, were removed in favor of an alloy Greenfield stand.

We really enjoy the smooth ride and nice shifting characteristics of this bike. We also like the uncluttered look and relative simplicity gained by the use of the internally geared Nexus hub with its coaster brake.

Thanks again for all your help in making this bike possible. Now I've got to get mine finished because Susan doesn't want me to ride hers !
